Egypt Daily News – Egypt announced its intention to present a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, emphasizing the necessity of Palestinians remaining on their land. This comes amid threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to halt aid if Cairo and Amman refuse to accept residents from the Gaza Strip. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the importance of beginning Gaza’s reconstruction without displacing its people.

Egypt, along with other Arab countries, is calling for a two-state solution as the only path to guarantee Palestinian rights and achieve lasting peace.

On Tuesday, Egypt swiftly announced its intention to present a “comprehensive” proposal for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, ensuring that Palestinians remain on their land. This comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to cut aid to Egypt and Jordan if they refuse to accept residents from Gaza, which the U.S. aims to control and develop economically.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its “aspiration to cooperate with the Trump administration to achieve a comprehensive and just peace in the region, serving as a foundation for a settlement that preserves the rights of its peoples.” The statement emphasized the importance of presenting a “clear and decisive” plan that ensures the Palestinian people remain on their land.

The statement noted that “any vision for resolving the Palestinian issue must avoid jeopardizing peace and prevent the escalation of the crisis by ending the Israeli occupation and implementing the two-state solution, enabling everyone to live in peace.” It added that Cairo is committed to playing an active role in supporting peaceful initiatives in the region.

These remarks followed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s phone call with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, during which he stressed “the importance of immediately beginning the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing its Palestinian residents.” He described the establishment of a Palestinian state as “the only guarantee” for achieving lasting peace.

In contrast, Trump proposed imposing U.S. control over Gaza and relocating its residents to neighboring countries as the sole option for its reconstruction, a stance that has faced widespread Arab and international condemnation.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister held consultations with Arab countries, including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, to unify positions against any forced displacement of Palestinians.

These countries reaffirmed their support for the “two-state solution,” advocating for an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel. They view the U.S. proposal as a threat to the region’s stability and the future of any political settlement.
