Ahmed Kamel – Egypt Daily News
The Egyptian national football team has been denied permission by United States security officials to fly directly to Seattle following their historic World Cup victory. Mohamed Salah and his teammates were forced to alter their travel itinerary after local authorities rejected their request to enter the city ahead of schedule.
Security Restrictions Disrupt Tournament Plans
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) confirmed that the squad planned to travel straight to Seattle from Vancouver to minimize player exhaustion. However, local security authorities declined the early arrival request due to pre-planned events and activities occupying the city.
National team manager Hossam Hassan expressed his frustration over the logistical setback in an official statement. The unexpected refusal has disrupted the Pharoahs’ training schedule and forced them back to their remote base camp.
Historic On-Field Success Marred by Logistics
This off-field controversy occurred immediately after Egypt secured a momentous 3-1 victory against New Zealand in Canada. Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah found the back of the net to help seal the nation’s first-ever FIFA World Cup match win.
The landmark triumph put the African giants at the top of Group G. Despite the celebratory mood, the squad must now refocus on their physical recovery while dealing with unexpected travel.
Return to Spokane Base Camp
Because of the Seattle denial, the entire Egyptian delegation had to board a FIFA-provided private plane back to Spokane. The squad will remain at their designated base camp, located roughly 280 miles east of Seattle, until later in the week.
The FIFA guidelines generally dictate that competing teams must remain at their official base camps until the day before a match. The Pharaohs will be permitted to travel back to Seattle just in time for their final group stage fixture.
Crucial Group Decider Against Iran
Egypt is scheduled to play its highly anticipated final group match against Iran at Lumen Field. A victory or draw in this upcoming Friday fixture will secure Egypt a spot in the historic knockout Round of 32.
Local organizers in the Pacific Northwest still expect up to 10,000 Egyptian fans to descend upon the region. The team must overcome this heavy travel fatigue to continue their historic World Cup run.
