EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering has achieved a landmark milestone after receiving official accreditation from Airbus to become the first certified provider of routine structural maintenance services for Airbus aircraft in Africa. The agreement was signed during the 2025 Dubai Airshow, marking a major advancement for Egypt’s aviation sector and for the continent’s technical support capabilities.

The historic certification follows an extensive audit conducted in March 2025 at EgyptAir’s modern maintenance facilities at Cairo International Airport. The evaluation was part of a preliminary framework established during the 2023 Dubai Airshow and confirmed the company’s compliance with Airbus’s highest standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

The agreement was signed by Ibrahim Fathy, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering, and Gabriel Semelas, Airbus President for Africa and the Middle East, in the presence of Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company. Semelas stated that the partnership represents a pivotal step toward localizing aircraft maintenance expertise in Africa, enabling faster and more efficient service for airlines across the region while strengthening Airbus’s global network of certified maintenance providers.

Beyond being a symbolic achievement, the accreditation is expected to significantly elevate EgyptAir’s competitive position. It expands the company’s technical capabilities, enhances its service range, and supports ongoing investments in advanced technologies and highly trained personnel. As demand grows across Africa and the Middle East for high-quality, regionally available maintenance solutions, the certification positions EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering as a central hub for Airbus structural maintenance.

The new status allows EgyptAir’s maintenance arm to provide routine structural checks and support for multiple Airbus aircraft families, services that have become increasingly essential as regional carriers expand and modernize their fleets.

EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering, established as the specialized maintenance subsidiary of EgyptAir Holding, has spent years building state-of-the-art infrastructure and cultivating skilled technical teams. These sustained efforts have transformed the company into one of the most advanced maintenance centers in the Middle East and Africa, drawing the attention of international partners.

With the new Airbus certification, EgyptAir is now poised to play a larger role in supporting the aviation industry across the continent, providing airlines with closer, faster, and more reliable maintenance options and einforcing Egypt’s position as a rising hub in global aviation services.
