Speaking before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, delivered a powerful message on the foundations of true peace in the Middle East and beyond.

“Peace is not born through bombing, coercion, or normalization rejected by the people,” the minister declared, addressing the assembly in a pointed statement that touched on the roots of regional instability and the failure of imposed solutions.

Dr. Abdel Aaty emphasized that genuine peace must be built on the foundations of fairness, mutual understanding, and respect for international law. “There must be an end to the arrogance of power. No state is above the law or beyond accountability,” he added.

His remarks were widely interpreted as a critique of ongoing military actions and unilateral approaches in regional conflicts, as well as normalization agreements that lack public support. The statement aligns with Egypt’s long-standing position advocating for negotiated solutions, justice for the Palestinian people, and the establishment of a two-state solution as the path toward lasting peace.

The Egyptian foreign minister’s speech comes amid heightened tensions in the region and renewed global focus on conflict zones, underscoring Cairo’s role as a key voice for diplomacy, stability, and international legality.
