Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held talks with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, to explore ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, during the Russian official’s visit to Egypt.

The meeting, held under directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, was also attended by Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, reflecting Cairo’s focus on boosting industrial and investment ties with Russian regions.

Abdelatty highlighted the growing momentum in Egypt’s strategic partnership with the Russia, noting that cooperation with Tatarstan has seen notable progress in recent years. He praised the republic’s rapid development, particularly in industrial, technological, and agricultural sectors, and stressed Egypt’s commitment to deepening economic relations.

Focus on Industry, Technology and Investment

The Egyptian foreign minister emphasized Cairo’s interest in expanding cooperation with Tatarstan-based companies, particularly through increasing training programs, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at localizing advanced industries within Egypt.

He also pointed to investment opportunities in logistics, agriculture, oil and gas, and petrochemicals, calling for stronger engagement from Tatarstan’s private sector in these fields.

Agricultural Cooperation and Trade Expansion

Abdelatty underscored the importance of enhancing agricultural cooperation, including boosting Egyptian exports of agricultural products to Tatarstan. He also highlighted prospects for collaboration in agricultural engineering and mechanization, aligning with Egypt’s broader strategy to establish itself as a regional logistics hub for grain and energy.

At the conclusion of the talks, the Egyptian minister expressed hope for increasing charter flights between the Tatarstan capital Kazan and Egypt’s tourist destinations. The move is expected to support a rise in Russian tourist arrivals, particularly from Tatarstan.

The meeting reflects Egypt’s ongoing efforts to diversify its international partnerships and attract foreign investment, while reinforcing its longstanding ties with Russia and its regions.
