Egypt Daily News – The Spanish Radio and Television announced today that at least 64 people have tragically died due to flash floods in southeastern Spain.
The heavy rains have led to sudden flooding that submerged streets in the Valencia region, resulting in numerous fatalities. Videos on social media showed people stranded by the rising waters, with some climbing trees in a desperate attempt to escape the strong currents.
Valencia regional official Carlos Mazón stated that authorities are still working to reach certain victims and have recovered several bodies but have refrained from disclosing exact numbers out of respect for the families involved.
Emergency services are advising the public to avoid travel unless necessary, emphasizing the importance of staying informed through official channels.
The meteorological agency has issued a maximum alert for Valencia, where areas such as Torres and Otiell experienced up to 200 mm (7.9 inches) of rainfall.
