Palestinian President confirms his government’s readiness to assume its full responsibilities in Gaza

Egypt Daily News – President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron. During the call, the latest developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories were discussed, where President Abbas appreciated France’s positions in support of Palestine in international forums, and its support for international legitimacy resolutions and international law as a basis for resolving the Palestinian issue, in addition to its efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and provide humanitarian aid.

He reaffirmed the Palestinian position on the necessity of an immediate ceasefire, complete Israeli withdrawal from it, and the State of Palestine assuming its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, as it is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory.

He stressed the readiness of the government and its civil and security agencies, and to take over the crossings, to assume their full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip. To alleviate the suffering of the people of Palestine, return the displaced to their homes and places of residence, and restore basic services such as water, electricity, and reconstruction.

He pointed out the importance of accelerating the introduction of relief aid by international organizations in coordination with the Palestinian government, and forcing the occupation authorities to stop the serious attacks and violations taking place in the West Bank and Jerusalem, stop all forms of settlement and crimes of the colonizers, and stop violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities.

He stressed the important role of France, in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the co-chairmanship of the International Peace Conference, in order to mobilize international recognition of the State of Palestine, obtain full membership in the United Nations, and implement the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

To achieve security and stability in the region, ending the occupation and embodying the establishment of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and international law.
