President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a high-level meeting today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly to discuss the results of the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the United States, which included participation in several key diplomatic events at the United Nations in New York. The meeting, which also included the Ministers of Defense, Interior, and senior security officials, comes at a critical juncture for the region as the situation in Gaza continues to escalate.

Prime Minister Madbouly conveyed to President El-Sisi the personal greetings of U.S. President Donald Trump, whom he met during a closed-door session convened by the American President. The meeting brought together a number of Arab and Muslim leaders to deliberate on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and to explore potential frameworks for post-war reconstruction and political stability. Madbouly, who represented Egypt on behalf of President El-Sisi, relayed Trump’s high regard for the Egyptian leader, emphasizing the mutual respect and long-standing relationship between the two presidents.

According to presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, Prime Minister Madbouly briefed the President on Egypt’s participation in the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. A central focus of his visit was the “Two-State Solution” conference, held on the sidelines of the General Assembly, which saw a convergence of international support for the Palestinian cause and increasing diplomatic momentum in favor of Palestinian statehood.

During his meetings, Madbouly underscored Egypt’s unwavering commitment to peace and reiterated the country’s strategic adherence to the Camp David Accords, portraying them as a model for conflict resolution when genuine political will is present. He also highlighted Egypt’s firm opposition to the continued violence in Gaza and any efforts aimed at altering the demographic or geographic realities on the ground.

One of the most significant developments during the “Two-State Solution” conference was the formal recognition of a Palestinian state by several major powers. This, Madbouly noted, was a pivotal moment that not only elevated the visibility of the Palestinian issue but also galvanized international consensus against Israeli actions in Gaza, including what many described as a campaign of collective punishment. There was, he added, a broad and vocal rejection of what international legal experts have increasingly termed acts tantamount to genocide, along with condemnation of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their ancestral lands.

In his remarks, Madbouly stressed Egypt’s long-standing position that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the pre-June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Egypt, he said, remains resolutely opposed to any plans involving the forced displacement of Palestinians or the annexation of parts of the West Bank by Israel.

Turning to the meeting with President Trump, Madbouly reported that the U.S. President voiced his clear opposition to the continuation of the war in Gaza, expressing his administration’s commitment to ending the conflict through a comprehensive roadmap for an immediate ceasefire. Trump also discussed a potential plan for the reconstruction of Gaza that would avoid any displacement of the local population, a point welcomed by the Egyptian delegation.

In addition to the multilateral discussions, Prime Minister Madbouly engaged in bilateral talks with several world leaders and senior officials, focusing on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, regional security, and energy.

President El-Sisi, in response to the Prime Minister’s briefing, reiterated Egypt’s strategic choice of peace as the only viable path for securing a stable and prosperous future for the peoples of the region. He emphasized that the region’s prolonged conflicts have exacted a heavy toll on civilian populations, underscoring the responsibility of regional powers particularly Egypt to act as stewards of peace and stability.

President El-Sisi welcomed President Trump’s initiative to halt hostilities in Gaza and expressed hope for its swift implementation. He reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians or unilateral annexation of Palestinian territories, while calling for enhanced coordination with international partners to increase humanitarian assistance to the besieged Gaza Strip.

As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens, Egypt continues to play a central diplomatic and logistical role balancing urgent relief efforts with its long-term vision for a comprehensive political solution grounded in international legitimacy and regional cooperation.
