The Presidency

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful”

Egypt’s honorable workers,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the outset, I would like to extend my greetings to all of you on the occasion of Labor Day. I extend my respect and appreciation to Egypt’s loyal workers for their efforts and dedication, being one of the pillars of this nation’s journey of construction and progress. May you and our beloved Egypt be well every year and may we continue to advance.

Dear Guests,

Celebrating this day is not just an annual tradition, but rather a clear message that embodies the state’s deep appreciation for the value of work and its steadfast belief in the role of workers in building development and promoting industrial renaissance.

To uphold this meaning, I was keen to hold Labor Day celebration this year in one of the new industrial landmarks in the city of Suez, in recognition of the active development process that this valiant city is witnessing and the launch of numerous new projects. This reflects a proud image of success, perseverance, and unwavering determination. The opening of every factory and the establishment of every production facility on Egyptian soil is a living testament to the great accomplishments achieved by the people of this nation, built with their strong hands, resolute spirit, and a will that recognizes no limits.

Throughout history, Egypt’s workers have left indelible marks of extraordinary sacrifice and dedication. Their ancestors’ efforts built the landmarks of this nation’s civilization and instilled in its generations the values of creativity, proficiency, and learning.

Today, as you continue to carry this legacy, you are proving to the entire world that Egypt, with the ingenuity and dedication of its loyal sons, will remain a beacon of production and development.

Your efforts have stretched to forging industrial strongholds, establishing new cities, and enhancing a robust infrastructure vital to achieving a comprehensive economic renaissance, providing millions of opportunities for the nation’s youth and paving the way for broader horizons for them towards a brighter future.

Egypt’s loyal sons,

Fully aware of the magnitude of its responsibility, the government of Egypt continues its persistent efforts to create a dynamic work environment and provide workers with sustained and sophisticated training programs, designed to address and keep pace with global changes. Furthermore, the government is expanding the establishment of technological universities, industrial schools, and vocational institutes to develop a skilled and qualified workforce equipped to cope with the demands of the modern labor market. The government also seeks to conclude agreements with diverse countries to foster employment prospects for skilled Egyptian professionals to secure appropriate employment in Arab, African, and European countries. This endeavor contributes to the development of those countries and aligns with Egypt’s historical and pioneering role with its brotherly and friendly countries.

On this occasion, I am pleased to announce the signing and promulgation of the ‘New Labor Law,’ a significant achievement in the advancement of labor rights. This law encompasses clear benefits for workers; establishes the principles of worker protection and equity; affirms the due rights of working women; enhances job security guarantees for employees; and aligns with international labor conventions and agreements. Thereby, it marks a fundamental stride towards establishing a stable and harmonious work environment that embodies the vision of the New Republic. Moreover, I gave the following directives to the government:

First:

To expedite the process of finalizing the draft law concerning domestic workers, and convene a broad societal dialogue on its stipulation.

Second:

To broaden the scope of social protection to encompass various categories of the informal workforce and provide financial assistance in the event of death.

Third:

To implement an initiative for the development of youth skills through the provision of tuition-free grants, to qualify them for the actual demands of the labor market.

Fourth:

To work towards the swift resolutions of labor disputes to ensure the timely delivery of entitlements without delay.

Fifth:

To establish a permanent committee to monitor the implementation of the National Employment Strategy immediately upon its launch.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Our celebration of Labor Day across all regions of the nation, today, serves as a demonstrable testament to the esteemed position of Egypt’s workers and their vital role in the production process. They are an essential partner in achieving national progress, alongside entrepreneurs, who are making significant efforts in localizing the industry, providing job opportunities, and fostering skill development and capacity building, thereby optimizing the performance of the national economy. Together, let us engrave the narrative of a nation determined to realize its aspirations for progress and prosperity, even amidst the intricate international and regional landscape.

Finally, I unequivocally affirm that, by the grace of Allah the Almighty and the collective unity of our people in all their strata, we are capable of surmounting challenges and moving steadfastly along the path of development and progress, fortified by our unyielding resolve and sincere commitment. I hold an unwavering conviction in our capacity to achieve our noble objectives for the elevation and preeminence of this nation.

Many happy returns.

May Egypt be in elevation, progress, and prosperity

And always and forever…

By Allah the Almighty:

Long live Egypt,

Long live Egypt,

Long live Egypt.
