Egypt Daily News – Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that there are people in the world who want to return to the time of Napoleon, but they forget how that historical event ended.

Putin explained during his meeting with employees and beneficiaries of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” foundation, saying: “There are still those who cannot sit idly by, and there are still those who want to return to the time of Napoleon, forgetting how it all ended.”

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on March 5 that “Russia has become a threat to France and Europe” and called for a discussion on the use of French nuclear weapons to protect the entire European Union, pointing out that the United States has changed its stance on Ukraine and its leadership role in NATO.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described Macron’s statements as “highly confrontational,” emphasizing that they contain many errors. He noted that they fail to acknowledge how NATO’s military infrastructure has been “rapidly advancing” toward Russia’s borders and do not recognize Moscow’s legitimate concerns in this regard.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that Moscow has no intention of attacking NATO countries, asserting that such an action would be meaningless.

Putin also stressed that Western politicians continuously scare their people with an imaginary Russian threat to distract them from internal issues, but “smart people clearly understand that this is a lie.”
