Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and President Vladimir Putin have both called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon during a meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.
This meeting involved extensive discussions on various regional and international issues, as highlighted by the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency.
The two leaders emphasized the need for de-escalation in the region and called for measures to prevent further turmoil. President Sisi specifically underscored the importance of ensuring humanitarian aid delivery to the people of Gaza and affirmed support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.
In addition to discussions on the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, the talks included the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s stance on seeking diplomatic resolutions and political solutions to international conflicts, aiming to maintain global peace and security.
President Sisi expressed appreciation for Russia’s support of Egypt’s economic initiatives, noting the growth in bilateral relations and citing projects such as the Dabaa nuclear power plant.
Putin described Egypt as a “long-term and reliable partner” for Russia, highlighting its significant role in trade between Russia and Africa.
This summit marks Egypt’s first participation as a member of the BRICS group, following its accession earlier this year in January.
