President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has held a phone call with Hungary’s newly elected Prime Minister Peter Magyar, congratulating him on his party’s victory in the recent parliamentary elections and signaling Egypt’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation in the coming period.

During the call, Sisi praised the democratic conduct of the Hungarian elections held on April 12, 2026, and highlighted Egypt’s appreciation for the growing momentum in relations between Cairo and Budapest in recent years.

He emphasized that Egypt looks forward to working closely with the new Hungarian government once it is formed, with the aim of further expanding political dialogue and strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.

Egyptian officials noted that relations between the two countries have developed significantly in recent years, particularly after being elevated to the level of a strategic partnership in 2023.

The president also reaffirmed Egypt’s interest in continuing close coordination with Hungary on regional and international issues of mutual concern, especially in light of evolving geopolitical challenges in Europe and the Middle East.

On his part, the Hungarian prime minister-elect expressed appreciation for Sisi’s congratulations, describing Egypt as an important partner in the region.

He stressed Hungary’s commitment to further developing relations with Egypt across political, economic, and development fields, while also strengthening consultation on regional and international issues.

The Hungarian side also praised Egypt’s role in promoting stability in the Middle East and the wider Mediterranean region, underscoring the importance of continued dialogue between the two countries.

The call reflects a shared willingness to maintain and expand cooperation, with both sides signaling continuity in bilateral relations despite political transitions in Budapest.
