Trump Tarrifs

Egypt Daily News – US President Donald Trump stated that the trade war will not be easy, but the result will be historic, noting that “investments have exceeded 5 trillion dollars so far, and the number is rapidly increasing.”

In a post on his official Truth Social page on Saturday, he mentioned that “China has suffered a much harder blow than the United States,” adding that Beijing treated the US “in a bad way.”

He continued, “We were foolish and incapable, but the situation has changed now. We are creating jobs and attracting companies like never before. This is an economic revolution, and it won’t be easy, but the result will be historic. We will make America great again.”

US Customs employees have started collecting the 10% tariffs imposed by President Trump on all imports from several countries.

Sources reported that higher tariffs on goods from 57 major trading partners are expected to begin in the coming days. The Customs and Border Protection Bulletin stated that there is a 51-day grace period for shipments loaded on ships or planes heading to the US.

It added that the counter-tariffs imposed by Trump, ranging from 11% to 50%, are set to take effect on May 27.

On Wednesday evening, Trump imposed a 10% tariff on all imports and higher tariffs on some of the country’s largest trading partners, a move that intensifies the trade war he began upon his return to the White House, calling it “Liberation Day in America.”

The tariffs targeted dozens of countries, including China, India, and the European Union. The US President stated that “today is the day the American industry is born again.”

Trump imposed a 34% tariff on China, 20% on the European Union, 46% on Vietnam, 32% on Taiwan, 24% on Japan, 10% on the UK, and 25% on South Korea.
