A severe road crash in southern Egypt’s Aswan Governorate left 10 people dead and 9 others injured on Sunday evening after a collision involving a pickup truck and a heavy transport vehicle on the Toshka East Road, according to initial reports.
The accident occurred at kilometre 21 along the desert highway when the two vehicles collided under circumstances that remain under investigation, triggering a mass casualty response in the area.

Emergency services deployed six ambulances to the scene, where paramedics provided urgent first aid before transporting the injured to Aswan University Hospital for further treatment.
Security forces and local authorities quickly arrived at the site to secure the area, remove debris, and restore traffic flow on the strategic road link, which connects key development zones in southern Egypt.
A formal report was filed on the incident, while the Public Prosecution has been notified to begin investigating the causes of the crash and determine whether any negligence or mechanical failure contributed to the collision.
Road accidents remain a persistent concern in Egypt, particularly on long desert highways where high speeds and heavy transport traffic frequently increase the severity of collisions.
