Egypt Daily News – French President Emmanuel Macron arrived at Cairo International Airport on Sunday evening, coming from the Abu Simbel Temple in Aswan, for a two-day visit to Egypt, during which he will meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
A French-Egyptian summit is scheduled to take place between the two presidents, discussing the enhancement of bilateral relations and addressing the latest developments in the regional landscape amidst the crises facing several countries in the region, particularly Libya and Syria.
The summit will also emphasize the importance of international efforts to find political solutions to these crises, in order to safeguard the integrity, unity, and territorial integrity of these countries, while preserving their national institutions and the well-being of their peoples.
President Emmanuel Macron is also set to meet with Islamic and Christian religious leaders, visit Al-Azhar and meet with Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and visit the Abbasid Cathedral to meet with Pope Tawadros II, the Coptic Orthodox Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark. Additionally, he will hold a dialogue with the French community in Cairo.
During his visit, Macron is accompanied by a large delegation of French businessmen. Economic meetings will be held between French and Egyptian business groups. The visit is expected to result in the signing of more than 30 agreements, memoranda of understanding, and contracts in fields such as health, energy, transportation, infrastructure, and education.
The French delegation includes the Minister of State for Financial and Economic Affairs, and discussions will take place with some ministers from the economic group. Macron will also participate in an investment forum with the attendance of several ministers and businessmen from both countries, as well as a working dinner with representatives of the Egyptian-French Business Council.
President Emmanuel Macron said in a post on his official X account upon his arrival, “The Egyptian Rafale jets are a strong symbol of the strategic cooperation between the two countries.” President Emmanuel Macron’s plane was escorted by Egyptian Rafales in his honor.
