Egypt has expressed full support for the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran, welcoming the latest round of talks held in Muscat under the auspices of the Sultanate of Oman, as part of broader efforts to de-escalate tensions and reach a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the Iranian nuclear file.

In a statement issued on Friday, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the position reflects directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to back all initiatives aimed at reducing regional escalation and preventing the outbreak of military conflict in the Middle East. The ministry described the renewed dialogue as a positive step toward reviving diplomatic channels at a critical moment for regional stability.

Egypt emphasized that the success of the negotiations depends on creating an atmosphere based on good faith and mutual respect, allowing the parties to reach a durable agreement as swiftly as possible. Such an outcome, the statement said, would help spare the region the risks of military escalation, warning that any armed confrontation would have catastrophic consequences for all countries in the Middle East.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that there is no military solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, underlining that dialogue and negotiation remain the only viable path forward. Cairo reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at achieving an agreement that takes into account the interests of all concerned parties and serves the stability of the region as a whole. It added that Egypt will continue to coordinate closely with regional partners in pursuit of this objective.

In this context, Egypt welcomed the diplomatic efforts undertaken by several regional states, including Qatar, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, praising their roles in facilitating dialogue and easing tensions. The ministry expressed hope that these sincere initiatives would yield tangible positive results that contribute to strengthening prospects for peace and stability across the region.

Beyond the immediate negotiations, Egypt reiterated its long-standing position on nuclear non-proliferation in the Middle East. The statement called on the international community to intensify efforts to address non-proliferation risks in a comprehensive manner, stressing the importance of implementing the goal of establishing a Middle East free of nuclear weapons, without exception for any state in the region.

Egypt also underscored the need to achieve the universality of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty in the Middle East and to subject all nuclear facilities in the region to comprehensive safeguards agreements under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. According to Cairo, these steps are essential to building trust, reducing security threats, and laying the groundwork for lasting regional stability.

The statement reflects Egypt’s broader diplomatic approach, which prioritizes conflict prevention, regional dialogue, and multilateral cooperation at a time when tensions surrounding the Iranian nuclear program continue to pose significant challenges for Middle Eastern and international security.
