Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the President of the Republic of Chad, Idriss Déby, on the sidelines of the Africa–France Summit in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to further enhancing these relations across various political, economic, trade, and developmental fields, so as to bolster the historical bonds the two brotherly peoples share and fulfill their aspirations for development and prosperity. President El-Sisi stressed the necessity to build upon the positive outcomes of the Joint Committee meetings held in Cairo in November 2025.

The President of Chad expressed his country’s appreciation for the close relations with Egypt, affirming his keenness on fostering closer bilateral cooperation, particularly in the domains of trade and investment, as well as infrastructure development and the promotion of comprehensive development efforts. President Déby also commended the ongoing cooperation with Egypt in the healthcare sector.

During the meeting, the two Presidents exchanged views on the latest regional developments of mutual interest. President El-Sisi reaffirmed the imperative need to preserve the national institutions of regional states and to strengthen their role in confronting the various threats they are facing. President El-Sisi and Chad’s President Déby also discussed ways to settle regional crises through peaceful means, in order to preserve the sovereignty of states in the region and safeguard the resources and well-being of their peoples.

President El‑Sisi Meets IMF’s Managing Director on Sidelines of Africa–France Summit in Kenya

Today, President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, on the sidelines of the Africa–France Summit held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that President El‑Sisi expressed Egypt’s deep appreciation for the fruitful cooperation with the IMF in implementing the economic reform program.
This program includes broad structural reform goals aimed at achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.

President El‑Sisi also welcomed the successful completion of the fifth and sixth reviews and their approval by the IMF Executive Board last February.
The President emphasized Egypt’s commitment to continuing economic reforms despite the current international and regional challenges and crises.

Ms. Georgieva praised Egypt’s strong political will and serious commitment to continuing economic reform efforts.
These efforts aim to strengthen macroeconomic stability, achieve fiscal discipline, and improve the business environment.
She also stressed the IMF’s keenness to maintain close cooperation with the Egyptian government in support of these efforts.

The President and the IMF’s Managing Director further discussed the negative economic repercussions resulting from the Iranian crisis and the state of uncertainty overshadowing the Middle East region.
They also reviewed the reflections on the economies of Egypt and developing countries, particularly with regard to energy security and food security in countries that rely on imports of petroleum products and strategic commodities.

President El-Sisi reiterated the importance of international financial institutions and development partners playing an active role in providing the necessary support to boost the resilience and economic stability of developing and least-developed countries in confronting current challenges. The President also highlighted the proactive measures implemented by Egypt to preserve economic stability and fiscal discipline, most notably maintaining exchange rate flexibility as a key pillar of monetary policy and a mechanism for absorbing shocks.

For her part, the IMF Managing Director underscored the measures being implemented by the Fund to help member states address current challenges.

President El-Sisi Meets Kenyan President Ruto on Sidelines of Africa-France Summit in Nairobi

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Kenyan President William Ruto on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said President El-Sisi expressed his sincere appreciation to the Kenyan president for the warm welcome and hospitality that distinguish Kenya and its people. The President emphasized that Egypt values its historical and deep-rooted relations with Kenya at both the official and popular levels, and looked forward to putting into effect the joint presidential declaration signed in January 2025 regarding the elevation of bilateral relations to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.

This partnership would enhance economic integration between the two countries and allow for mutual benefit from the significant potential of both economies. This is in addition to the strategic location and young human resources both countries have.

For his part, President Ruto expressed his deep appreciation for President El-Sisi’s active participation in the summit and noted the strategic relations between the two countries and the support Egypt provides to development efforts in Kenya and the Nile Basin countries.

The meeting focused on cooperation in the field of water resources. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering commitment to strengthening cooperation with Kenya and the Nile Basin countries in developing water resources to achieve mutual benefit and ensure that the interests and water security of all nations are not harmed. The President commended the excellent consultations between the two countries to promote cooperation and common interests while avoiding division. The Kenyan president reaffirmed his country’s support for enhancing consultation and coordination among the Nile Basin countries to serve the interests of their people and strengthen economic ties.

The meeting also touched on a number of regional issues, mainly the situation in Sudan. President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt’s steadfast support for the stability, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Sudan and stressed the need for concerted international and regional efforts, particularly from neighboring countries, to undertake constructive roles in restoring stability and preventing the worsening of the security and humanitarian situation.

President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to restore regional security and stability, and the Egyptian vision that calls for allocating resources towards development and fulfilling the aspirations of peoples for security and prosperity, rather than draining national resources in armed conflicts. President Ruto expressed his appreciation for this vision and affirmed his country’s commitment to continuing coordination with Egypt to achieve peace and stability in Africa and the Middle East. The two presidents agreed to enhance consultation and joint coordination in the coming period.
