Paris Saint-Germain successfully defended their UEFA Champions League title on Saturday night, defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a tense final ended 1-1 following extra time in Budapest.
The French champions claimed their second consecutive European crown after prevailing in a dramatic shootout at the Puskás Arena, becoming one of the few clubs to retain the continent’s most prestigious trophy in back-to-back seasons.
Arsenal made the perfect start to the final, taking the lead just five minutes into the match through Kai Havertz. The German forward unleashed a precise left-footed strike that beat the Paris goalkeeper and gave the Premier League side an early advantage.

The opening half was closely contested, with both teams creating opportunities but finding it difficult to break down organized defenses. Goalkeepers at both ends produced key saves to keep the scoreline unchanged for the remainder of the first period.
Paris Saint-Germain emerged with greater urgency after the break and eventually found a way back into the match in the 65th minute. Ousmane Dembélé converted a penalty after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was brought down inside the area, allowing the French side to restore parity and shift momentum in their favor.
The equalizer sparked an intense final phase of normal time, with PSG pushing hard for a winner. However, Arsenal’s defensive resilience and several crucial interventions from goalkeeper David Raya ensured the contest remained level.
Extra time followed, but neither side could produce the decisive breakthrough despite moments of pressure from both teams. Fatigue began to take its toll as the final drifted toward a penalty shootout.
In the decisive shootout, PSG held their nerve to convert four of their penalties and secure a 4-3 victory. The triumph capped another remarkable European campaign for the Parisian club, which has now established itself as one of the dominant forces in continental football.
For Arsenal, the defeat marked a heartbreaking end to an impressive Champions League run that brought them within touching distance of their first European title in decades.
The victory ensures Paris Saint-Germain remain kings of Europe for another year, adding a second consecutive Champions League trophy to the most successful period in the club’s history.
