Egypt Daily News – The presidential race is proving to be extremely competitive as Democrat Kamala Harris holds a narrow lead over Republican Donald Trump in recent polls.
With just days remaining until the election, both candidates are intensifying their efforts to attract undecided voters, especially in pivotal swing states.
On Tuesday, Trump hosted a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, aiming to reclaim a state he previously won in 2016 but lost in 2020.
Meanwhile, Harris addressed supporters at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., delivering a “closing argument” for her campaign in a location that resonates with historical significance because of Trump’s 2021 speech preceding the January 6 Capitol events.
Harris’s campaign itinerary for Wednesday includes stops in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Raleigh, North Carolina, before concluding with a rally and concert with Mumford & Sons at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Trump, for his part, is set to rally in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and later in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he will be joined by former NFL star Brett Favre. According to the latest TIPP Tracking Poll, released Wednesday morning, Harris leads Trump by just 1 percentage point, with the poll showing her at 48% against Trump’s 47%.
The margin of error is 2.7 percentage points. Notably, the majority of respondents expressed concern about the state of the economy and dissatisfaction with the country’s direction, which could jeopardize the incumbents.
As Election Day approaches, early voting statistics indicate that 15% of voters have already cast their ballots, with an additional 14% planning to vote by mail, and 12% intending to drop off their votes ahead of time. A little over half (51%) plan to vote in person or drop off their ballots on Election Day.
In critical battleground states like Michigan and North Carolina, Harris and Trump are deadlocked. An exclusive USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll shows them tied at 47% in Michigan, while a SurveyUSA/WRAL poll reveals a similar tie in North Carolina, with both candidates polling at 47%.
Further tension is evident in Arizona and Nevada, where polls show a close contest. In Arizona, Harris leads Trump by 1 point (48% to 47%), whereas in Nevada, Trump holds a slim lead over Harris by the same margin.
Both results fall within the respective polls’ margins of error. As the race intensifies, every vote will count as both campaigns make their final pushes in these crucial states.
