Kirillov's killer

Egypt Daily News – The Russian Federal Security Service announced that the perpetrator of the terrorist attack that led to the death of Igor Kirillov, commander of the Russian Army’s radiological, chemical and biological defense forces, was arrested yesterday, Tuesday.

Federal Security said in a statement today, Wednesday, that as a result of an active operational investigation operation carried out in conjunction with the Russian Ministry of Interior and the Investigative Committee, a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan, born in 1995, was detained. He detonated an improvised explosive device near a residential building on Ryazansky Street in Moscow, which led to the killing of Lieutenant General Kirillov and his assistant, Major Ilya Polikarpov.

According to the statement, the perpetrator of the terrorist attack admitted that he was recruited by the Ukrainian special services and, on their instructions, arrived in Moscow, where he obtained a powerful improvised explosive device and placed it on an electric bicycle left near the entrance to Kirillov’s house.

To monitor Kirillov’s house, the attacker rented a car and installed a Wi-Fi video camera in it, broadcasting the image to crime organizers based in the Ukrainian city of Dnieper. After receiving a video signal about the presence of the two officers at the entrance to the building, the explosive device was activated remotely.

The statement stated that the Ukrainian special services promised the Uzbek citizen a reward of 100,000 US dollars and travel to live in one of the European Union countries.

As part of a criminal case brought against him under the articles “terrorist act,” “murder,” and “unlawful possession and production of explosives” of the Russian Criminal Code, the perpetrator faces a sentence of up to life imprisonment.

Federal Security confirmed that the employees of the relevant Ukrainian agencies involved in organizing the terrorist attack will be found, and they will receive deserved punishment.

Earlier, Reuters reported, citing a source in the Ukrainian Security Service, that the Ukrainian intelligence services carried out a “special operation” that resulted in the killing of Russian General Igor Kirillov.

For his part, a Ukrainian security source confirmed to Agence France-Presse that the Ukrainian Security Service was responsible for the Kirillov assassination.
