Egypt Daily News – A statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Minister Badr Abdel Aty met with a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives in Cairo and discussed developments in the Middle East and U.S.-Egyptian relations.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Sunday, the delegation included the Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Congress, Darrell Issa from California, as well as Representatives Sheila McCormick (Florida), Chuck Edwards (North Carolina), Jim Costa (California), and James Baird (Indiana).

According to the source, the Egyptian minister praised the U.S. role in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, emphasizing the need for all parties to adhere to its provisions and ensure the continuous and intensified flow of humanitarian aid, given the deteriorating conditions in the region.

The meeting also discussed Egypt’s efforts in reconstruction and early recovery in Gaza, highlighting that Egypt’s vision is based on close coordination with the Palestinian Authority, Arab and Islamic countries, along with international support to ensure the stability of the population in their land.

The meeting takes place in the context of discussions regarding Egypt’s stance on former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza’s residents to countries, primarily Jordan and Egypt, as a prelude to implementing a plan for the reconstruction of the sector.
