Egypt Daily News – Jordanian sources said that Arab foreign ministers are planning to travel to Washington “within weeks” to present a “well-crafted” proposal to U.S. President Donald Trump for rebuilding Gaza without displacing its Palestinian residents.

President Trump had previously proposed the displacement of 2.1 million Palestinians from Gaza and turning the territory into a “Riviera” owned by the United States. This plan sparked outrage across the Middle East and was firmly rejected by regional leaders.

Arab leaders are expected to hold a broader summit in Cairo on March 4, during which a “roadmap” for Gaza and the conflict is anticipated to be issued. According to sources, senior Arab diplomats are then expected to travel to Washington in the coming weeks to present the proposal to the Trump administration.

One source stated that Arab officials want to ensure it is a “well-crafted plan” before submitting it to Trump.

In addition to outlining a strategy for rebuilding the devastated territory without displacing its residents, the Arab counterproposal will also address key issues such as Gaza’s post-war governance, reforms within the Palestinian Authority, and the deployment of peacekeeping or enforcement forces inside the Strip, according to the sources.

It remains unclear which entities would constitute a potential peacekeeping force.

Last week, Arab leaders held a rare “informal” meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to discuss the plan. Sources described the meeting as “significant,” emphasizing that there was a “unified stance.”

Jordan and Egypt—both of which were suggested by Trump as destinations for displaced Palestinians—have firmly rejected any resettlement plans, considering it a matter of national security.

“Our position is firm and clear—we will not accept any threat to our national security,” one source stated, calling the issue a “red line” for Jordan.

For months, Jordanian officials have warned against any attempts to transfer Palestinians into the country. In September last year, following an escalation in the West Bank, Jordan’s foreign minister declared that any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians into Jordan would be considered “a declaration of war.”
