Egypt Daily News – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty announced that Egypt intends to hold a conference for reconstruction and is working on training Palestinian police forces in preparation for their deployment in the Gaza Strip.
Speaking at the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah to discuss the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, announced that Egypt has put forward a plan for “early recovery, reconstruction, and development of Gaza.” This plan, adopted by the emergency Arab summit in Cairo on March 4, aims to safeguard the Palestinian people’s right to rebuild Gaza, maintain their presence on their land, and address the catastrophic conditions in the Strip caused by the Israeli war.
Abdel Aty outlined the comprehensive vision of the Arab plan, which consists of three phases for early recovery and reconstruction. He also stated that Egypt intends to organize a reconstruction conference in cooperation with the Palestinian government and the United Nations to mobilize international support for implementing the Arab plan and establishing a trust fund under international supervision.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Egypt has spared no effort in working to stop the war since its outbreak and continues to push for the full implementation of a ceasefire agreement in its three phases.
Abdel Aty further revealed that an agreement had been reached with the Palestinian side to form an independent, non-factional committee to temporarily manage the Gaza Strip in preparation for the full return of the Palestinian Authority. He also confirmed that Egypt is training Palestinian police forces in preparation for their deployment in Gaza.
