Egypt and Pakistan have stepped up diplomatic coordination over efforts to revive negotiations between the United States and Iran, in an attempt to stabilize a rapidly escalating regional situation and prevent further deterioration of the fragile ceasefire.

In a phone call on Sunday, April 19, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the latest developments in the region and ongoing international efforts to restart diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran.

Renewed Diplomatic Coordination

The conversation focused on the broader political and security situation in the Middle East, with particular attention to the stalled negotiations between the United States and Iran.

Both sides reviewed efforts aimed at reviving the diplomatic track, emphasizing the importance of preventing further escalation amid rising tensions and uncertainty surrounding the future of the ceasefire.

The two ministers discussed the possibility of holding a second round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran, which they hope could help solidify a ceasefire framework, reduce tensions, and open the door to a broader political settlement.

Shared Support for Dialogue

According to the discussions, both Egypt and Pakistan expressed support for continued diplomatic engagement as the only viable path to resolving the ongoing crisis.

They stressed that dialogue and negotiation remain essential tools to contain the conflict and avoid further military escalation in the region.

The exchange reflects growing concern among regional actors over the fragility of the current situation, particularly as indirect contacts between the United States and Iran have so far failed to produce a lasting breakthrough.

Continued Regional Coordination

At the conclusion of the call, both ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and continue consultations on regional developments.

The objective, according to both sides, is to support stability and security in the Middle East at a time when diplomatic channels remain active but uncertain.

The phone call comes amid intensified regional efforts involving multiple actors attempting to prevent a collapse in negotiations between Washington and Tehran, as well as to contain tensions that have escalated in recent weeks across key strategic waterways and conflict zones.
