The inaugural direct flight between the Midwestern United States and the Egyptian capital officially departed from O’Hare International Airport on Sunday morning. This brand new service marks a significant expansion for EgyptAir by establishing its fourth permanent gateway within the North American market.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and local aviation officials originally announced the partnership earlier this year to enhance international travel options. The newly established connection aims to boost both commercial trade and cultural tourism between the two major global hubs.
Flexible Weekly Schedule Benefits Transatlantic Travelers
The national carrier will operate this nonstop service three times per week with scheduled departures on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Return flights traveling from Cairo are scheduled to land in Illinois early in the morning to allow for convenient domestic connections.
Passengers departing from the United States will board the transatlantic flight during the late morning hours for an overnight journey. This carefully planned timetable caters to both corporate business travelers and international tourists looking to maximize their destination time.
Advanced Aircraft Deployed for Long Haul Comfort
EgyptAir is utilizing its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft to service the lengthy route between the two continental destinations. The modern widebody plane accommodates up to three hundred and forty passengers across two distinct seating tiers.
The cabin configuration features thirty premium business class seats alongside three hundred and ten standard economy seats. This deployment brings Chicago into an elite network that previously only included New York, Washington, and Toronto.
