Egypt Daily News – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated during a cabinet meeting on Sunday: “The American side has received Iran’s response to the letter from U.S. President Donald Trump via the Sultanate of Oman.”
Pezeshkian added, “In this response, despite rejecting the idea of direct negotiations between the two sides, it was emphasized that the door for indirect negotiations remains open.” He continued, “Iran has never avoided the option of negotiations, but it was the breach of promises by the other side that caused the stumbling of this path, and this needs to be addressed and trust rebuilt.”
The Iranian president pointed out that the behavior of the Americans will determine the future of this negotiating path.
The day after Tehran announced that it had officially responded to the U.S. president’s letter calling for negotiations, Iranian sources revealed its contents.
Mohammad Saleh Sadeqian, the director of the Arab Center for Iranian Studies, shared U.S. President Donald Trump’s letter via his X platform account on Saturday.
Text of the letter: The letter reads: “Your Excellency Ayatollah Khamenei, with respect for your leadership and the Iranian people, I write to you in the hope of opening new horizons for our relations, away from the years of conflict, misunderstanding, and unnecessary confrontations we have witnessed in recent decades. It is time to leave behind animosity and open a new page of cooperation and mutual respect. Today, there is also a historic opportunity before us. Under my leadership, the United States is ready to take a significant step toward peace and de-escalation. Together, we can remove sanctions, empower the Iranian economy, and open the doors for cooperation between our two countries, not only for the benefit of our peoples but for the stability and peace of the Middle East and the world as a whole.
However, I warn you, if you reject this extended hand and if the Iranian regime chooses the path of escalation, continued support for terrorist organizations, and military adventures, the response will be decisive and swift. We will not stand idly by in the face of threats from your regime against our people or our allies.
Peace is not weakness, but rather the choice of the strong. The Iranian people are a great people who deserve a better future, far from isolation, poverty, and suffering.
If you are ready for negotiations, we are ready as well. But if you continue to ignore the demands of the world, history will record that you missed a great opportunity.”
Trump’s warning: “Bad things” will happen U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that “bad things” will happen to Iran if it fails to reach an agreement regarding its nuclear program.
