Fresh optimism is emerging around nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran after President Donald Trump described recent talks as “very positive,” raising expectations that a potential breakthrough may be closer than many anticipated despite continuing military tensions across the Middle East.

According to reports circulating in Washington, the United States is now waiting for Tehran’s official response within the next 48 hours as diplomatic efforts intensify behind closed doors. The renewed momentum surrounding the negotiations has injected cautious hope into a process that has faced repeated setbacks, regional confrontations, and months of uncertainty.

Trump’s comments suggested growing confidence inside the American administration that both sides may still be capable of reaching a deal, particularly as discussions continue over a proposed framework tied to Iran’s nuclear program and broader regional issues.

Sources familiar with the negotiations say the talks remain highly sensitive, involving detailed discussions on sanctions relief, uranium enrichment limits, regional security arrangements, and economic guarantees.

Iranian officials, however, indicated that consultations are still ongoing and that Tehran has not yet formally submitted its final response regarding the latest American vision connected to Iran’s 14-point proposal. The delay reflects the complexity of the negotiations rather than a collapse in talks, with diplomats on both sides continuing to work through unresolved details viewed as essential to any lasting agreement.

Even as diplomatic signals improve, military tensions in Lebanon continue to cast a shadow over the region.

Attention has focused intensely on the reported targeting of a senior Hezbollah commander following an Israeli strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs, one of the group’s most politically and militarily sensitive strongholds.

Israeli officials claimed the commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force was killed in the operation, though Hezbollah has not officially confirmed the reports. Israeli media outlets suggested the strike was conducted in coordination with the United States, adding further significance to an already explosive situation.

Meanwhile, clashes along the Lebanese border continue to intensify.

The Israeli military announced that several soldiers were injured in a drone attack launched from southern Lebanon, with one soldier reportedly suffering serious wounds. Israeli warplanes later carried out additional strikes targeting towns in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah announced new drone operations against Israeli military positions.

Despite the growing violence on the ground, diplomatic momentum surrounding Iran remains alive — and perhaps stronger than it has been in months.

That contrast now defines the region’s fragile reality: negotiations advancing quietly in political rooms while military escalation continues across active frontlines. For Washington, preserving the possibility of an agreement with Tehran may now depend on preventing regional tensions from spiraling beyond control.

For Iran, the coming response could shape not only the future of its nuclear program, but also the broader balance of power across the Middle East.

And for the region itself, the next two days may prove critical in determining whether diplomacy can still move faster than escalation.
