Egypt Daily News – On Sunday, Russian officials reported a significant drone attack originating from Ukraine, during which Russian air defense managed to intercept and shot down 70 drones across six regions, including 32 targeting Moscow.

This incident marks one of the largest drone assaults on the Russian capital since the onset of the conflict in February 2022, resulting in the temporary closure of Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports to ensure civil aviation safety.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin provided updates through his Telegram channel, noting that air defense systems successfully neutralized a large-scale drone attack.

Earlier, Sobyanin had announced the interception of 25 drones in the areas surrounding Moscow, with further reports indicating that seven more were shot down in urban zones.

In the Ramensky District, specifically in the village of Stanovo, debris from the downed drones caused fires in two homes.

A 52-year-old woman sustained injuries from shrapnel and was hospitalized with burns, highlighting the direct impact of the drone strike on civilians. Emergency services were reportedly deployed to manage the situation.

In a related incident, Ukraine conducted a drone strike on the “Aleksinsky” chemical plant in Tula, with the Ukrainian Security Service stating that at least 13 drones were involved in the attack.

This resulted in explosions, plumes of smoke, and the subsequent evacuation of employees, although Russian authorities did not publicly acknowledge this attack.

The situation continues to evolve, showcasing the ongoing tensions and exchanges between Ukraine and Russia in this prolonged conflict.
