Hamas launches the largest barrage of rockets on Israel since the resumption of the Gaza attack

Egypt Daily News – The Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas targeted the Israeli city of Ashdod on Sunday with the largest barrage of rockets since Israel resumed its attack on Gaza last month.

The Israeli army announced the interception of five of the ten rockets, with at least one missile falling in the city of Ashkelon. Israeli police and explosives experts are searching for other impact sites. The Israeli ambulance service (Magen David Adom) reported that at least one man in his thirties is receiving treatment for minor injuries caused by shrapnel.

The Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades, stated that the attack was “in response to the massacres committed by Israel against civilians.” Israeli far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared that this bombing is a “reminder” of the need to destroy Hamas.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s office reported that the Prime Minister ordered a strong response after about 10 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip on Sunday, approving the continuation of intense military operations against Hamas. The statement noted that Netanyahu spoke to Israeli Defense Minister Katz from the plane as he was heading to Washington.

The Israeli military urged all Gaza residents in the Deir al-Balah area, including the neighborhoods of Sahabah, Sama’a, Zawayda, and Salah, to immediately move south to evacuation centers in the Muwasi area.

Israeli military spokesperson Avichai Adraee said, “This is a final warning before the attack! We will strike with great force every area from which rockets are launched.”

The Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades targeted the Israeli city of Ashdod again on Sunday with the largest rocket barrage since Israel resumed its attack on Gaza last month.
