Egypt Daily News – A senior official in the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, Nasr al-Din Amer, issued a warning to Israel, announcing that the Yemeni armed forces would target Ben Gurion Airport and other locations in the coming hours.
In a statement, Amer said the strikes come in response to “the recent escalation against the Gaza Strip and the ongoing aggression against Yemen,” emphasizing that this announcement serves as a disclaimer of responsibility.
He called on the remaining airlines operating at the airport and travelers—especially foreigners—to evacuate immediately for their safety.
On Sunday morning, the group claimed responsibility for targeting Ben Gurion Airport with two ballistic missiles, one of which was hypersonic. The Israeli military confirmed intercepting both missiles and did not report any casualties.
According to the Houthis, the Yemeni armed forces launched a military operation targeting Ben Gurion Airport, southeast of Tel Aviv, using two ballistic missiles: one named “Palestine 2” (a hypersonic missile), and the other “Zulfiqar.” Houthi military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree stated that the strike accurately hit its targets, caused panic among residents, sent millions into shelters, and disrupted air traffic at the airport for about an hour.
Israel’s emergency services reported that one person was injured while trying to reach a shelter in the city of Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv.
Air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport was temporarily suspended following the activation of air raid sirens in the area.
