Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty. From the German side, State Secretary, Head of the Office of the Federal President, Dörte Dinger, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office Serap Güler, Director of Foreign Relations at Federal Presidency Ambassador Wolfgang Dold and German Ambassador to Egypt Ambassador Jürgen Schulz attended.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President welcomed the German president on his visit to Egypt and expressed his deep appreciation for his participation in the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum and his keeness to fulfill the invitation, which reflects the deep historical relations and strong ties between Egypt and Germany.

The German president congratulated the President and the Egyptian people on the opening of the museum and stressed that this civilizational achievement reflects the greatness of Egypt’s history and its well established status in the record of humanity, expressing his pride in participating in this prominent cultural event.

President El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening its strategic partnership with Germany, particularly in the political, military, and security fields, in addition to economic and investment cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of education and transportation, with a focus on manufacturing and energy sectors, including new and renewable energy.

The President emphasized the importance of building on the momentum generated by the first Egyptian-European summit, being a pivotal moment in the growing cooperation between Egypt and the European Union.

The meeting addressed ways to cooperate in combating illegal immigration and regulating labor migration, as well as touching on developments pertinent to several joint infrastructure projects. Both sides agreed to continue coordination and joint work to meet the aspirations of both peoples in achieving sustainable development and shared prosperity.

Views were also exchanged on regional developments. President El- Sisi emphasized the need to build on the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, to underpin the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid, and expedite the launch of the reconstruction process.

President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s interest to closely coordinate with the German side in preparation for the International Conference for Early Recovery & Reconstruction of Gaza Strip, which is scheduled to be held in November 2025.

The German president thanked the Egyptian President for the efforts made by Egypt in mediation, which led to an agreement to end the war in Gaza and the convening of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit. Both presidents reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. The German president stressed that successive German governments have sought to promote the two-state solution.
