Egypt is actively working to stabilize the Gaza ceasefire and implement the second phase of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati stated in an exclusive interview.
Minister Abdel Ati emphasized that under the directives of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, all branches of the Egyptian state, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are exerting maximum effort to consolidate the recent ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the successful implementation of the peace plan’s next stage.
“Egypt fully supports President Trump’s plan,” Abdel Ati said. “We value his direct engagement and efforts to secure the ceasefire. Our commitment to this initiative and support for its execution remain unwavering.”
The foreign minister noted that Egypt is coordinating closely with allied and friendly nations, with a focus on the United Nations in New York. Egyptian diplomats are working to secure a Security Council resolution endorsing Trump’s peace framework and urging the rapid implementation of its second phase. Abdel Ati stressed that these efforts aim to preserve international principles concerning the Palestinian issue, including the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“These matters are non-negotiable under any circumstances,” he said.
Egypt’s involvement has been pivotal in mediating between Israel, Palestinian factions, and international stakeholders to maintain calm in Gaza following the recent hostilities. Analysts note that Cairo’s efforts are central not only to regional stability but also to broader international efforts to revive the peace process.
As the diplomatic push continues, Egypt’s government has emphasized its role as a mediator that can bridge gaps between parties while safeguarding key international legal principles regarding Palestinian rights.
