The joint Egyptian-Saudi naval exercise “Red Wave 8” has officially commenced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing together naval forces from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, and Djibouti for several days of coordinated training.

The exercise aims to strengthen joint operational capabilities among participating navies and enhance regional maritime security in the Red Sea. It includes a series of theoretical and practical training sessions designed to unify concepts of joint action and improve planning and coordination for complex naval missions.

According to Egypt’s Armed Forces, the program features simulations and tactical drills focused on countering non-traditional maritime threats, a growing concern in the region’s strategic waterways. Participants will also engage in exercises that test interoperability, communication, and joint command decision-making in multi-national maritime operations.

Military officials emphasized that Red Wave 8 is part of an ongoing framework of joint exercises conducted between Egypt’s armed forces and those of allied and friendly nations. These exercises are designed to bolster military cooperation, exchange expertise, and ensure readiness to address emerging security challenges in the region.

The Red Sea is one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors, linking the Suez Canal to global trade routes. The continuation of the “Red Wave” series underscores the participating nations’ shared commitment to safeguarding these waters and promoting regional stability through collective defense and collaboration.
