Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly announced on Thursday that operating hours for shops and restaurants will be extended until 11 PM, effective from tomorrow until April 27.
Speaking at the weekly press conference, Madbouly acknowledged that the previous restrictions on closing times had sparked mixed opinions among the public.
The decision to extend hours comes in response to a relative drop in global fuel prices, which the Prime Minister linked to the ongoing sustainability of the ceasefire in the region.
Madbouly also noted that archaeological and tourist areas are exempt from the new operating hours, citing their significant contribution to Egypt’s economy.
He reassured citizens that the government is monitoring the ceasefire situation around the clock, expressing hope that within the next two weeks there will be positive developments leading to a complete end to hostilities. Madbouly added that the government aims to avoid extending this exceptional measure beyond the current period.
