Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo’s core position on the Palestinian issue during high-level talks on Saturday, as regional powers moved to coordinate amid rising tensions.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, brought together key officials including Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Ayman Safadi, Hakan Fidan, Faisal bin Farhan, and Anwar Gargash.

Focus on Gaza transition

Abdelatty stressed the need to complete the second phase of current ceasefire arrangements and advance a broader political framework backed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

He called for the unrestricted flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid into Gaza, warning that continued limitations risk worsening an already severe humanitarian situation.

Egypt also highlighted the importance of enabling a national administrative body to begin operating from inside Gaza, as a step toward restoring governance and paving the way for the Palestinian Authority to resume full control.

Call for international security role

Cairo pushed for the swift deployment of an international stabilization force, arguing that securing the environment on the ground is essential for any sustainable transition.

Officials indicated that without a credible security framework, progress toward a political resolution would remain fragile.

Warning over West Bank escalation

Turning to developments in the West Bank, Abdelatty condemned what he described as escalating settler violence and continued expansion policies in violation of international law.

He also criticized recent actions by the Knesset, including legislation concerning prisoners, as well as repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He warned that these developments risk further inflaming tensions and deepening instability across the occupied territories.

Regional coordination continues

The ministers agreed to maintain close coordination in the coming period, emphasizing the importance of unified regional efforts to support the Palestinian cause and prevent further deterioration.

The Antalya talks reflect a broader push by regional powers to reassert diplomatic influence as tensions rise and prospects for a near-term resolution remain uncertain.
