The Presidency
Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi accompanied President of the People’s Republic of China, President Xi Jinping, and his spouse, Mrs. Peng Liyuan, on a tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum, as part of the Chinese president’s official visit to Egypt.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the President and the First Lady received the Chinese president and his spouse upon their arrival at the museum. The tour began with a detailed presentation on the Grand Egyptian Museum and its unique archaeological collections, including a guided explanation in both Arabic and Chinese highlighting the most prominent artifacts.
The tour also included the Grand Staircase, where the two presidents and their spouses listened to a comprehensive explanation of the archaeological pieces displayed along the staircase. Then, commemorative photographs were taken in the Pyramids Panorama area.
The tour concluded with a visit to the King Tutankhamun Treasures Hall. The two presidents and the First Ladies listened to an overview of the hall’s most important artifacts, most notably the Golden Mask and the Throne Chair, as well as a number of archaeological pieces that demonstrate the precision and sophistication of ancient Egyptian art.
During the tour, President Xi Jinping expressed his deep admiration for Egyptian civilization and its outstanding contribution to human history. He also praised the Grand Egyptian Museum as a world-class cultural edifice befitting the grandeur of Egyptian civilization.
