“In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

Your Excellency President Prabowo Subianto,
President of the Republic of Indonesia,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Members of the press,

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you,

At the outset, I would like to express my great pride in visiting the Republic of Indonesia, and to extend my profound gratitude and appreciation to my brother, His Excellency President Prabowo Subianto, for the generous reception and utmost courtesy extended to us.

Allow me to extend my gratitude to you and to the Indonesian people and tell them: The way you lined the streets and public squares is an immense honor for us and for Egypt. You have honored us, may Allah the Almighty honor you and preserve you.

I also seize this opportunity to express my deep appreciation for the growing momentum in relations between Egypt and Indonesia, particularly following His Excellency the President’s visit to Egypt in April 2025,a visit that culminated in the announcement elevating our bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership. This has opened broader horizons for strengthening cooperation in various fields, in pursuit of the mutual interests of our two countries and brotherly peoples.

Egypt and Indonesia share deep-rooted historical and cultural ties. Egypt was among the first countries to recognize Indonesia’s independence and establish diplomatic relations with it in 1947.

The two countries have also consistently united in advancing the interests of the countries of the Global South, particularly since Egypt’s participation in the historic Bandung Conference, which laid the foundation for the Non-Aligned Movement.

Today, the two countries continue to play an influential role in supporting security and stability in their respective regional surroundings, while remaining committed to coordination and consultation on various regional and international issues of common interest.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My discussions today with His Excellency the President reaffirmed the two countries’ shared determination to translate the historic relations and strategic partnership into tangible programs and cooperation projects, whose implementation will be followed up by the relevant authorities in both countries.

In this regard, we agreed to give particular priority to enhancing economic and trade cooperation, in a manner commensurate with the considerable potential of our two countries. We also agreed to work toward increasing the volume of bilateral trade to five billion U.S. dollars by 2030, while continuing efforts to remove any obstacles that may hinder the achievement of this goal.

Our discussions also addressed opportunities to expand joint manufacturing projects in priority sectors. Egypt is keen to encourage Indonesian companies to increase their investments in the Egyptian market, building on Egypt’s position as a regional hub for production and exports and a strategic gateway to Arab, African, and international markets.

Furthermore, we explored means to bolster cultural and educational cooperation, as one of the most important pillars of the historic relations between our two countries. In this regard, I welcomed the continued annual reception by Egypt of thousands of Indonesian students who come to study at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and various Egyptian universities. We are keen to ensure that this academic and cultural exchange remains a strong bridge for fostering the bonds of fraternity, friendship, and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

His Excellency President Subianto and I held an in-depth exchange of views on current regional and international developments. We concurred on the serious danger of the ongoing conflicts and disputes in many parts of the world, given the direct threat they represent to regional and international security and stability.

From this standpoint, we affirmed the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic means in resolving crises, giving priority to achieving peace and boosting development efforts, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and refraining from interference in their internal affairs.

Developments concerning the Palestinian cause occupied a major part of our discussions, as mentioned by my brother His Excellency the President, particularly in light of the extremely serious developments unfolding there and their repercussions for the security and stability of the entire Middle East.

Our views converged on the necessary foundations and references for achieving a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian cause, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, lines with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is the sole viable path toward achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in the region.

In this context, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for His Excellency President Subianto’s participation in the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025, where a ceasefire agreement for the Gaza Strip was signed.

I also commend the role played by Indonesia, as a member of the Board of Peace, in supporting efforts to consolidate stability, protect civilians, rebuild the Gaza Strip, and provide humanitarian assistance to the brotherly Palestinian people.

From this platform, I reiterate the need to ensure the full, safe, and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. I stress Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people, liquidating their cause, or imposing demographic changes on the Palestinian territories.

In the same context, I emphasize Egypt’s rejection and condemnation of the heinous practices and systematic attacks carried out on a daily basis against Palestinians, whether in the West Bank or in the Gaza Strip.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I also exchanged views with His Excellency the President on a number of other regional issues of common interest, foremost among them the situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region. We reaffirmed the importance of supporting de-escalation efforts and reaching political settlements to the various crises, as the only means of achieving sustainable security and stability.

I also underscored to His Excellency the existential importance of the Nile River issue for Egypt, as it is the lifeline of the Egyptian people. I stressed Egypt’s adherence to its water rights and its categorical rejection of any unilateral measures that could harm its water security or infringe upon its historical and acquired rights.

Your Excellency the President,

It was a pleasure meeting with you today, and I offer my sincere gratitude and appreciation once more for your gracious invitation and warm hospitality. I look forward to continuing our joint efforts to elevate Egyptian-Indonesian relations to broader horizons, in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of our two brotherly peoples and serves their shared interests.

Your Excellency the President,

I also look forward to welcoming Your Excellency to Egypt at the earliest opportunity, in order to continue consultation and coordination on the various bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest.

I wish the Republic of Indonesia and its brotherly people continued progress, prosperity, and stability.

Thank you very much.

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you
