President Sisi attends “war inspection” of the Sixth Armored Division of the Second Field Army

Egypt Daily News – President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, witnessed today, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the war inspection of the 6th Armored Division of the Second Field Army in Ismailia Governorate.

The war inspection was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, First Lieutenant Abdel-Majid Sakkar, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, along with several ministers, senior state officials, and military leaders.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by the reader Sheikh Ahmed Tamim Al-Maraghi.

The events began with a speech by Major General Mamdouh Jafar, Commander of the Second Field Army, in which he emphasized that Egypt is a great country with its people and history, one of the oldest countries in the world and the cradle of civilization. He stated that Egypt has a wealth of history, experience, and lessons to offer the world and the region as a model of peace and wisdom.

The commander of the Second Field Army added, during the inspection of the Sixth Armored Division’s war, which was broadcast by “Extra News” channel today, Tuesday, that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, since assuming responsibility, has confirmed that Egypt manages its policies with honor and its goals with clarity and transparency.

He continued: “Egypt’s strategic choice is peace and security for all, and certainly, the choice of peace must be supported and protected by strength, a strength not directed against anyone but stands as a formidable fortress for this nation against anyone who does not understand this language or dares to tamper with Egypt’s security and stability.”

He added: “The homeland is in safe hands, and the Second Field Army takes pride in the tasks assigned to it and is proud of the results it achieves. We monitor and analyze what is happening around us and understand the magnitude of the challenges and risks that these events may produce.

We develop appropriate plans and scenarios to deal with them, determining how, where, and when we should be present, while maintaining Egyptian national security both inside and outside the country, and we are ready for any tasks assigned to us.”

Following that, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi watched a documentary film titled “Army of Victory” during his inspection of the War Inspection Headquarters of the Sixth Armored Division, with verses from the Book of God, which spoke about the efforts of the heroes and the establishment of new units to restore the land.

The Second Army, as mentioned in the documentary film, is considered one of the oldest military formations in Egypt. Since its establishment on December 7, 1967, it has been tasked with protecting the northeastern part of the country. The first to command it was the former Minister of Defense, Ahmed Ismail Ali.

The Second Army fought the battles of steadfastness after the June 1967 War and participated in the War of Attrition, in addition to its significant role in breaching the canal, storming the Bar Lev Line, and capturing the fortifications in 1973.

The film showcased testimonies from Israeli leaders who participated in the 1973 war, about the heroism of the men of the Second Field Army in battle and how they tasted the bitterness of defeat in the battles they fought against it.

The role of the army did not stop at battles and wars only; the film highlighted the role the army played in securing vital targets after the revolutions of January 25 and June 30, and its role in combating terrorism in Sinai and uprooting its roots.

In the field of air defense, the German-made “Saqr” system has been introduced, which is considered one of the latest air defense systems globally. Recently integrated into the air defense forces, it can detect targets at all altitudes up to 1,500 targets and track 400 targets. It can also engage aerial targets with a small radar cross-section.

Following that, a group of weapons and equipment from the armed forces passed by, including a transporter loaded with the Harpoon naval missile and the Exocet missile, capable of being launched from frigates, missile boats, and submarines.

These missiles are characterized by their precision and high destructive capability. Additionally, the SLQ-48 mine countermeasure vehicle was displayed, which is considered one of the most advanced vehicles for neutralizing various types of naval mines up to depths of 600 meters.

Furthermore, the Mark 46 and Stingray naval torpedoes, used to destroy surface ships and enemy submarines, were also showcased.

The amphibious assault vehicle “SDV” model “Dolphin,” which is used to transport frogman units, was also showcased, along with the combat launch “USMI,” known for its high speed and maneuverability, which is used to transport and deploy marine commandos and frogman units, in addition to securing the maritime theater from sabotage and smuggling activities.

Among the displays is the combat launch “Rafale 1200,” which is distinguished by its ability to deploy naval special forces fighters to unprepared beaches. It also features a small radar cross-section, making it difficult to detect by enemy surveillance and monitoring systems. It is a multi-role combat launch.

In the field of air defense, the German-made “Saqr” system has been introduced, which is considered one of the latest air defense systems globally. Recently integrated into the air defense forces, it can detect targets at all altitudes up to 1,500 targets and track 400 targets. It can also engage aerial targets with a small radar cross-section.

The “Tor M” launcher was also showcased, which is a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system, and the “Buk” launcher, designed to engage all aerial targets at medium, low, and very low altitudes. It can also engage cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, carrying 8 missile elements with a range of 12 km.

The “Buk launcher” was showcased, which is a medium-range missile launcher designed to engage all aerial, ground, naval, hanging, and ballistic missile targets. It can detect and track 4 targets and launch up to 8 missile elements simultaneously with the help of a loading launcher.

The “Bitchura rotating launcher” was also displayed, which is a self-propelled missile system mounted on wheels for rapid movement, maneuvering, and ambush setups. It can engage aerial, ground, and naval targets and is equipped with 2 beams to launch 2 missiles with a 5-second interval between the first and second.

The first cargo parachute was showcased on heavy drop platforms equipped with a developed quad-pyramid launcher mounted on a TGL vehicle, with a range of up to 3000 meters and a firing rate of 2 missiles per minute.

This enhances the airborne forces’ capability to operate against the enemy’s armored and mechanized elements. The weight of the loads dropped on the heavy drop platforms ranges from 2200 pounds to 35,000 pounds.

The parade included the armored vehicle “Timsah 5,” which is one of the latest light armored vehicles manufactured locally by the armed forces. It is a four-wheel drive vehicle with a crew of four, providing protection up to level six. It is characterized by speed and agility and can be used as a command vehicle for special forces.

The armored vehicle “Timsah 4,” an armored personnel carrier produced locally by the armed forces, was also showcased. It is a four-wheel drive vehicle with a crew of eight, providing protection against gunfire up to level six and high protection against mines and explosives.

It features the ability to detach the rear capsule and install different armaments according to needs, and it has been tested and showcased at international exhibitions.

The “Timsah 3” armored vehicle was showcased; it is a tactical armored vehicle produced locally in collaboration with the American company “AM General.”

It features a manufacturing cost that is 40% lower than its global counterparts. Its crew consists of 6 members, unlike the foreign alternative, which has a crew of only 4 members. The vehicle provides protection for the crew up to level six and has a high capability to traverse all types of terrain, with an integrated automatic launch platform.
