Egypt Daily News – The Ministry of Transport operates the “RoRo Line” for transporting goods between Egypt and Italy today, as Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, signed, with the Italian Ambassador in Cairo, an agreement regarding the international transport of goods by trucks using RoRo services.
Minister El Wazir witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian and Italian sides to enable easy transport of goods and reduce the cost of transport and travel time between Italy and Egypt.
The following points are the most important details about the new line:
-It starts from the port of Damietta to the port of Trieste in Italy
-It supports the economic interests of Egypt and Italy and maximizes seaborne trade and partnership between the two sides
-It supports increasing the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the countries of the world and increasing the volume of Egyptian exports
-It aims to transport rapidly perishable agricultural crops between Egypt, Italy and Europe
-Targeting to operate a ship with a capacity of 420 trucks with a weekly trip rate
-It supports efforts to transform Egypt into a gateway for Italy and Europe towards Africa
-Supports transforming Egypt into a global trade and logistics center
-Targeting the establishment of a logistics area behind Damietta Port
-Increases the economic feasibility of high-speed train projects
-It contributes to linking European countries with Asian and African countries through Egyptian territory
-Reduces the arrival time of Egyptian goods to and from Europe
-Encourages Italian investors to invest and establish productive projects in Egypt
