Egypt Daily News – The head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, confirmed on Saturday that there are currently no negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF): “We can talk with the RSF only if they lay down their arms.”

He confirmed that he had received “invitations to sign a ceasefire agreement in the month of Ramadan,” but added: “We will not accept any ceasefire unless the RSF withdraws from all states and gathers in specific centers.” “We will not give the RSF gains with a ceasefire,” he added. Al-Burhan emphasized that the fighting will continue until the siege of El Fasher is lifted.

He revealed that the Sudanese army has made plans that will enable it to “control the whole country,” stressing that “the only solution is victory. We are confident that the battle will end in victory.” He also stressed that ”those fighting in the ranks of the army represent all Sudanese.”

Al-Burhan revealed that Khartoum is about to form a technocratic government, adding that consultations are underway to select a civilian prime minister. “The government that will be formed will help us accomplish the remaining military work,” he said. “The recommendations of the political forces will receive attention and room for implementation.”

Al-Burhan noted that the National Congress Party (NCP), the party of former President Omar al-Bashir, will not return to power: “If you are patriotic, you will not find an opportunity to rule the country. You will not get a chance to rule the country on the blood of Sudanese people.” He continued: “The National Congress and others who want to rule should refer to the elections in the future.”

Al-Burhan then addressed the Coordination of Progress and Freedom and Change Forces, saying: “You are like the National Congress, and you have no chance of returning to power. You and the RSF are the same to us.” He continued: “We welcome the Progress Coordination if the Progress Coordination lifts its hand from the RSF.”
