The administrative declaration follows an official announcement from the Egyptian Prime Minister’s office on Thursday morning revealing that Wednesday’s double-vessel fire was caused by an incoming drone attack. Forensic investigations concluded that an unmanned aerial vehicle directly targeted the industrial terminal, though no regional military group has officially claimed responsibility. Despite the high-profile security breach, port officials maintained that all specialized berths and container terminals remain fully functional, ensuring a seamless flow of operations for international shipping lines.
The swift return to normal operational capacity comes less than 24 hours after a fire erupted on two liquefied natural gas carriers, the Energos Winter and the GasLog Salem. While the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources initially reported the blazes without disclosing the underlying cause, emergency civil defense teams successfully neutralized the thermal threat without registering any human casualties or physical injuries.
