Egypt Daily News – Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides in a bilateral meeting, followed by an expanded session including delegations from both countries. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the leaders’ participation in the Egypt International Energy Exhibition (EGYPS 2025).

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two nations across various fields, both bilaterally and within the framework of the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Greece. Both leaders praised the momentum in their relations and reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination in different areas to meet the aspirations of their peoples.

In this context, the meeting addressed ways to enhance collaboration in the production, liquefaction, and transportation of natural gas, serving the interests of both nations as well as Europe as a whole.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shinawy, the official spokesperson, added that the talks also covered developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. The discussions reviewed Egypt’s efforts in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and its commitment to executing the agreement in its three phases to support regional stability.

The leaders also addressed Egypt’s efforts to facilitate the exchange of hostages and detainees and to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza to alleviate the humanitarian crisis facing its residents.

Additionally, the Cypriot President was briefed on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to develop a comprehensive proposal for the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing Palestinians from their land. In this regard, both presidents stressed that the establishment of a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.

The spokesperson further noted that the meeting also touched on the situations in Syria, Lebanon, and Libya, emphasizing the importance of preserving the stability, unity, and territorial integrity of these nations to reinforce regional and international peace and security.
