Egypt Daily News – Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated on Wednesday that any attempt by the Syrian army to build and strengthen its military capabilities in southern Syria will be met with “fire.”
Gallant acknowledged that the Israeli Air Force had conducted airstrikes on targets in Syria, warning that any effort by the Syrian regime or “terrorist organizations” to establish a presence in the south would face military retaliation.
In a brief statement, Gallant confirmed that the Israeli Air Force had launched powerful attacks in southern Syria as part of a newly established policy to demilitarize the region. “The message is clear: we will not allow southern Syria to become another southern Lebanon,” he declared.
He emphasized that Israel would not compromise the security of its citizens and that any military entrenchment in the security zone of southern Syria would be met with force.
