Egypt Daily News – In a first Saudi comment, Saudi Arabia has announced its full support for the decisions of the “Palestine Summit”, referring to the extraordinary Arab summit held in Egypt. The summit aimed to propose a plan for the reconstruction and administration of the Gaza Strip, without relocating its Palestinian residents abroad.

Saudi Minister of Information Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari stated, in a declaration published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that the Council of Ministers “affirmed its full support for the decisions of the extraordinary Arab summit (Palestine Summit) held in Egypt, which aims to reject the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land and to end the catastrophic consequences of the war.”

The council emphasized the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the attainment of their legitimate rights, including their right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Saudi Cabinet condemned Israel’s decision to halt the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to uphold its responsibilities regarding these grave violations, activate international accountability mechanisms, and ensure the sustainable delivery of aid.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia announced that its Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, would lead the kingdom’s delegation at the Cairo summit, marking the unexpected absence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman from this significant meeting.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, announced that the final statement of the Arab summit held on Tuesday adopted the Egyptian plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

During a press conference with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Aboul Gheit stated that the final statement of the summit “called on the UN Security Council to deploy peacekeeping forces in Gaza and the West Bank.”
