On Thursday, Syrian state media quoted a source from the Ministry of Interior as saying that individual violations had occurred during the government’s operation against gunmen linked to the ousted President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, adding that the ministry was investigating these incidents.

The Syrian General Security announced the arrest of “unruly” groups that executed civilians in the Syrian coastal region and deployed additional convoys to protect residents from further transgressions.
Meanwhile, the Syrian army ordered the withdrawal of personnel not assigned to military operations from coastal areas, limiting operations to army units and General Security forces. The army also closed several roads leading to the coastal region.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Saturday that a source from the General Security Directorate confirmed the confiscation of more than 200 stolen vehicles in Jableh and its surroundings. The source stated that individuals had exploited the instability caused by remnants of the former regime to commit thefts. He added that a large number of thieves had been arrested and that the stolen vehicles would be returned to their rightful owners.
The correspondent also revealed that one group of former regime remnants had surrendered to the army in Jableh, and the curfew in Latakia and Tartus was expected to be lifted by morning.
Prior to this, a Syrian Ministry of Defense source told the state news agency that military and security forces were conducting precise operations against remnants of the ousted President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Qardaha, the Assad family’s hometown.
Sources reported ongoing intense clashes in Latakia between Syrian security forces and remnants of the former regime. He confirmed that some members of the previous regime were taking shelter in a building near the National Hospital.
As Syrian security forces worked to restore order in major coastal cities, limited overnight clashes erupted near Ibn Sina Hospital in Latakia after an attack carried out by remnants of the Assad regime, according to security sources cited by SANA.
Sources confirmed that the Syrian army had entered the city of Jableh and fully regained control of the Naval Academy.
Meanwhile, sources from Al Arabiya and Al Hadath reported that more than 90 Syrian army and security personnel and 160 remnants of the former regime were killed in the coastal battle.
According to the sources, 44 soldiers were killed in ambushes while providing support to security forces, while the rest of the casualties were from security and police forces. One neighborhood in the Syrian city of Latakia witnessed intense clashes between Syrian security forces and remnants of the former regime as part of a wide-scale crackdown against them.
Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa called on remnants of the former regime to surrender their weapons immediately “before it is too late,” as he put it. He condemned the attacks, killings, and hospital raids, stating his strong disapproval of such actions.
Al-Sharaa emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to pursue remnants of the former regime and those who violated the rights of Syrians, explaining that this step aims to hold them legally accountable and ensure that weapons remain exclusively in the hands of the state.
He also urged the Syrian army to exercise restraint in dealing with former regime elements, noting that some of them were deliberately provoking the Syrian military.
Syrian Defense Ministry spokesman Hussein Abdel Ghani told Al Arabiya that the armed forces were addressing lawless groups in Tartus and Latakia, highlighting increased security deployments to restore stability in Jableh.

In recent hours, the Syrian coast has witnessed the largest security campaign against remnants of the Assad regime since its fall.
As clashes continued around Jableh, the Ministry of Defense sent massive reinforcements to the provinces of Latakia and Tartus to secure the region and launch extensive sweeping operations in city centers and the surrounding mountains.
