Egypt and Israel.. “Rafah Crossing” suspended coordination and raising of tensions

Egypt Daily News - Tension between Egypt and Israel is escalating rapidly in light of Israel's continued occupation of more than two-thirds of the Philadelphi Corridor and its control over the Rafah crossing.

At a time when Tel Aviv and Washington are pressuring Cairo to accept dealing with the Israeli authority at the crossing in order for aid to enter, the Egyptian government confirmed that it will not accept the Israeli presence at the Rafah crossing, considering that Tel Aviv is trying to blackmail Cairo from a humanitarian standpoint by talking about aid to Gaza.

For his part, Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki said that the current situation is being dealt with with the utmost wisdom, to support and preserve the Palestinian cause and to support the Palestinians on the basis of the two-state solution.

The Minister of Defense stressed that the Egyptian army is capable of confronting any challenges imposed on it, and that the Egyptian state has constants that it does not deviate from and does not take sides except in the interest of its national security.

Egypt hinted at withdrawing from mediation efforts between Israel and Hamas, and the head of the Egyptian State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, said that Israel is launching campaigns aimed at questioning the Egyptian role.

In this regard, journalist Mohamed Abu Al-Fadl stated in his reading of the statements of the Egyptian Defense Minister that the speech highlights two basic elements: the first is the commitment to maintaining peace as a strategic choice for the Egyptian state, and the second is the affirmation of national controls related to maintaining Egyptian national security, especially in the face of Israeli provocations. .
