Egypt Daily News – Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, stated that Egypt is intensifying all efforts to swiftly reach a ceasefire agreement in order to stop the bloodshed of the Palestinian people.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Austrian counterpart in Cairo on Saturday, he noted that the number of martyrs has exceeded 56,000, with 70% being women and children, stressing that what is happening in Gaza is “killing for the sake of killing.”
He pointed out that crimes are being committed in full view of the international community, without any meaningful action to stop them, expressing Egypt’s hope for an active American role in reaching a ceasefire.
He also mentioned the increasing coordination between Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in recent weeks, aiming to build on the momentum created by the ceasefire in the Iranian file, which now allows a shift of focus to the Palestinian issue.
The minister noted that Israeli policies are continuing unchecked, with daily killings that have become utterly futile, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to ending the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
He stressed the need to address the issue of starvation being used as a tool of collective punishment, expressing hope that the intensified efforts will soon lead to an immediate ceasefire agreement, paving the way to host an international conference for early recovery and reconstruction.
