Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Tuesday with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as part of ongoing coordination between the two countries on bilateral relations and key regional developments.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the call reflected the close consultation between Cairo and Abu Dhabi on issues of mutual interest and regional stability. Abdelatty underscored the depth of the fraternal ties between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the strong cooperation and continuous coordination at various levels. He stressed the shared commitment to building on the current positive momentum in relations and further expanding bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both nations.
The discussions focused heavily on the Palestinian issue amid what Egyptian officials described as catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The two ministers reviewed ongoing diplomatic efforts related to the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and the broader international push to ease humanitarian suffering and restore stability in the Palestinian territories.
The situation in Sudan was also a central topic. Abdelatty and Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination within the framework of the existing quadrilateral mechanism aimed at addressing the conflict. Both sides underlined the need to intensify efforts to secure a humanitarian truce, establish safe humanitarian corridors and shelters, and ultimately work toward a comprehensive ceasefire that would help alleviate the worsening humanitarian crisis.
Developments in Yemen were discussed as well, with both ministers reaffirming the importance of supporting de-escalation and calming tensions. Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s position that a sustainable resolution to the Yemeni crisis can only be achieved through an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni political dialogue. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive political settlement that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, while fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security and stability.
The call concluded with an agreement to maintain close coordination and regular consultations in the coming period on regional and international issues. Both sides emphasized that continued alignment between Egypt and the UAE is essential to strengthening joint Arab action and contributing to greater stability across the region.
