President El-Sisi Participates in Consultative Meeting, in Nicosia

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in a consultative meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The meeting was held between leaders from a number of Arab countries, leaders of European Union member states, the President of the European Council, and the President of the European Commission.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the meeting featured discussions among Arab and European leaders, as well as EU officials, on the latest developments in the Middle East and ways to de-escalate the current tensions and restore regional and international peace and stability.

The meeting began with opening remarks by President of the European Council António Costa, President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

They welcomed the participating leaders and emphasized the importance of continued consultation between countries in the region and the European Union to maintain security and stability.

President El-Sisi delivered a speech during the meeting.

The heads of state and government also reviewed developments in a number of regional and international issues, as well as ways to resolve the various conflicts in the region.
They also explored available opportunities to strengthen partnership across the Mediterranean for the achievement of shared development and prosperity.

In this context, the President reiterated that any agreements reached must be just and balanced, taking into account the concerns of all parties, particularly the Arab side.
The President noted that this applies to the Iranian file, as well as the Syrian and Lebanese issues.

President El-Sisi underscored the critical importance of ensuring that any agreement related to Iran takes into account the security concerns of the Gulf states.
In the same context, the Presidents of Lebanon and Syria, as well as the Crown Prince of Jordan, expressed their appreciation for the President’s remarks and conclusions during the meeting.

On the sidelines of the meeting, President El-Sisi met with the French President, the German Chancellor, the President of Romania, the Prime Minister of Denmark, the Prime Minister of Italy, the Irish Prime Minister, and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
