Egypt intensified its diplomatic engagement within the expanding BRICS framework on Thursday as Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty participated in the expanded session of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting alongside partner nations in New Delhi, stressing the urgent need for multilateral cooperation amid mounting geopolitical and economic instability.

During the high-level gathering, Abdelatty praised India’s presidency of the bloc, highlighting what he described as the growing importance of partner-state participation in strengthening dialogue on international and regional challenges. He said the inclusion of partner countries adds broader perspectives to discussions at a time when the global system is facing unprecedented strain.

The Egyptian foreign minister commended India’s focus on economic resilience, innovation, sustainable development, and expanding areas of cooperation, describing those priorities as a direct response to the turbulence affecting the global economy and international order.

Abdelatty warned that the current international climate requires stronger multilateral coordination as geopolitical conflicts, economic pressures, climate-related challenges, and rapid technological transformations continue to reshape global dynamics. He stressed that cooperation between BRICS members and partner nations should move beyond political dialogue toward practical economic integration and joint development initiatives.

According to the minister, Egypt sees major opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, industrial development, infrastructure projects, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and technological innovation. He emphasized the importance of building on the comparative advantages of each participating country to launch strategic projects capable of strengthening collective economic resilience.
Regional developments in the Middle East also featured prominently in Egypt’s intervention. Abdelatty warned that escalating tensions across the region are threatening security and stability while increasing risks to international shipping routes and global supply chains.
He reiterated Egypt’s rejection of attacks and violations targeting Arab states, affirming Cairo’s full support for the sovereignty, stability, and security of Arab nations. The foreign minister further stressed the importance of adhering to international law, preserving freedom of navigation, and prioritizing diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution as the only sustainable path toward regional stability.
Abdelatty said Egypt continues intensive diplomatic contacts aimed at de-escalating tensions and containing conflicts across the region as fears grow over wider instability in the Middle East.
On the Palestinian issue, the Egyptian minister strongly condemned Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territories and called for the immediate and unhindered delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid into Gaza Strip. He stressed that humanitarian access is essential not only to ease civilian suffering but also to prepare for early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The minister reaffirmed Egypt’s longstanding position supporting a comprehensive and just resolution to the Palestinian issue, while urging the international community to intensify efforts aimed at ending the humanitarian crisis.
Abdelatty concluded Egypt’s participation by emphasizing the importance of continued coordination between BRICS countries and partner nations to confront ongoing international challenges and strengthen collective action in an increasingly volatile global environment.
